If God is truly sovereign over all creation (and he is), then he is sovereign over MTV, movies, postmodern culture, non-Christians, secular society and politics as well. And, in the midst of all that, the church is in great danger of becoming irrelevant and insulated from reality. As the Body of Christ, we are called to quite the opposite: We are here for them.
Understanding the spiritual hunger behind the rise of modern witchcraft and Pagan spirituality…It’s everywhere. If you don’t believe us, visit your local Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstore. Not to mention the Internet where information is shared and community is growing. And Wiccans and neo-Pagans are everywhere, perhaps even in your own neighborhood. In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing spiritualities today. During a year of interviews and research, Sanders asked and answers such questions as: Why do seekers find the Wiccan worldview and its concern for the earth so attractive? Are they right in saying the church doesn’t “get it”? How can the church nourish the hunger of those who seek a more holistic and authentic worship experience? Chapters include: Salem, Harry Potter and Other Common Questions, Does God Really Love Women? and “It’s Malleable” (Wicca and Teens). She discovered that her stereotype of them as eccentric spiritual outsiders was wrong…Like Christians, they are in search for meaning in a culture much devoid of it and it is just at this place that dialogue can begin.
