Steve's Letter: What did I do? I repented publicly!
Do you have people who'll think you're some kind of religious nut if you tell them about God's radical grace? Are there people you've decided just aren't open to the Gospel? Do you have friends who aren't "religious" and never will be who you're afraid to tell of God's scandalous grace and mercy? Are there places you won't go, things you won't say and words you won't use because "they" would never understand and reject you?
Trust the old, cynical preacher here. Go tell them!

Steve's Letter: "The Key is the Child Thing!"
It's hard to be right (Christians are right, at least about the basic things) and pretend that you're not. It's hard to have convictions and not proclaim them. It's hard to know that you and others are valuable; and, at the same time, to be a slave...Washing feet is quite difficult when you know that washing feet isn't something you have to do. It's hard to be civil when the "cretins" aren't. It's hard to be humble when God has given you skills and abilities at which you're quite good. It's hard to be a child when everything in your culture and in your gut tells you to grow up.

Steve's Letter: "Is Your Church Scary?"
Is your church scary? No, I don't mean scary in the same way that Freddy is scary in A Nightmare on Elm Street or the way a bully is scary because he is so big, intimidating and cruel...and not scary in the way people with money and power can be scary.
The scary about which the Scripture speaks is a different critter altogether.
