You ever think God might be the kind of God who delights in what delights you?
I’ve got a friend who, in a burst of commitment, prayed, “Lord, I’ll do whatever you want me to do.”
God said, “What do you want to do?”
“Well, that ain’t the point, Lord. I’ll do whatever you want me to do.”
God persisted – “What do you want to do?”
“Well, I’ve got a back acre of land and I thought about building a barn on it.”
God said, “Do it with joy.”
Ever think God might be the kind of God who delights in what delights you? The God who sometimes wants you to change the world, make your life count, also says about your passion, “Child, do it with joy.”
