Fireflies

When I was a small child, I caught fireflies and put ’em in a jar and thought if I caught enough of them, they would light up my room.

They didn’t, they died.

Some things we try to hold too tightly die too. The joyous gifts of God are meant to be kissed as they fly. That includes your kids, your friends, your brothers and sisters in Christ. You want to be free? Set others free.

The difference between a prison and a party is that there aren’t any chains at a party. Don’t try to hold too tightly to the blessings of God. God’s mercies and fireflies don’t do well in jars.
