Ugly Groom

Jesus loves us…in the ugliness of our sin and the rebellion of our hearts.
I once officiated at a wedding where the groom was so ugly, he would scare gorillas.
Not only that, he had the personality of a 10 ton truck and the social skills of an amoeba, but the bride loved him deeply. And you could see it in her eyes. In her case, love really is blind.
Jesus is like that, only he’s not blind. He knows the ugliness of my sin, the rebellion of my heart, the twisted ways of my life. And can you believe it? He likes me anyway.
What’s with that? I have no idea. Sometimes his love is irrational.
