Deep Roots

I have a friend who’s been landscaping his yard.

He had this scrawny little tree that didn’t fit into his plan. Not only was it scrawny, it was ugly. Only had two leaves on it. So one night before dinner, my friend decided to yank it out of the soil. He spent the whole weekend getting that tree out of his yard.

“Steve,” he said, “I’ve never seen such a little ugly scrawny bush have such deep and strong roots.”

That’s true with Christians. We’re little, sometimes ugly, always weak, but our roots go down deep into God and you can’t get rid of us. Deal with it.
