God is the Judge…and the Savior.
My late friend, Chuck Colson tells about a judge who had gone with Chuck to a prison as a volunteer.
It was time to go. And Chuck urged the judge who was talking to a prisoner on death row to hurry because they would miss their flight. You don’t understand Chuck. He said, I sentenced this man to death and I just led him to Christ. Now he’s my brother.
The God who condemned us with the law is the same God who forgave us in Christ. God is a judge. Don’t forget that, of course. But for God’s sake, don’t forget that he is the Savior too. We sin as it were and he pays the fine.
