Serving others and putting them first leads to surprising freedom.
One time Abraham Lincoln was walking down a street with his two small sons.
The boys were fighting and screaming at each other. A neighbor asked, Mr. Lincoln, what is wrong? What is wrong with the whole world, Lincoln said. I have three walnuts and two sons, both of whom want two of them.
Lincoln was right. That’s why Jesus said, if you’re at a dinner party, take the least important seat. Serve rather than rule. Be great by not thinking you’re great. You’ll be surprised at the freedom when walnuts don’t matter.
