He was dressed in his new suit, a tie and his shoes were polished.

Where you going? His neighbor asked. I’m off to New Orleans, I hear there are wild women at great whiskey. I’m going to have a good time. Good, his neighbor said, but why are you so dressed up? Because, well, I might stay for the week-end and I don’t want to miss church.

Makes one wince, doesn’t it? But then, now that I think about it, maybe the only place to go when one needs forgiveness, is church. Jesus is there. He’s a great Forgiver of great sinners.
