Lose My Religion

I have a pastor friend in North Carolina who told me about this testimony from a mountain man.

You know and I know that I ain’t been what I ought to have been. I’ve stole hogs and told lies and got drunk. I’m always getting into fights and shooting craps, playing poker and running after women. I’ve cursed and swore, but thank God there’s one thing I never done. I never lost my religion.

I would suggest, sir, that maybe you never had religion. Or alternatively, you need more of it. Maybe the kind of religion of a God who loves you just as you are, but loves you too much to leave you that way.
