Snipe Hunting

Unfulfilled hopes and shattered dreams often define the world.
When my kids were little, some older friends took them snipe hunting.
You’re given a large bag taken out on a dark night to catch the snipes. You’re told to wait until your friends scare the snipes in your direction. The joke is that there are no snipes and you’re left there holding the bag, as it were.
A lot of our world is like that. I’m tired of promises that don’t deliver, hopes that will never be fulfilled and dreams that are shattered. Jesus will never take you snipe hunting. He meets expectations and delivers on promises of forgiveness and love and life. He’ll never leave you holding the bag.
