If you’re a sinner, find another sinner doing a bit better than you are.
If I were a drunk, and I’m not, but I’ve thought about it, and wanted to get sober.
I wouldn’t ask advice from a lifelong teetotaler. They don’t know.
I would want to talk to someone who was a drunk, but had managed to remain sober. That’s the theory behind Alcoholics Anonymous, and frankly, it ought to be the theory behind the church.
If you’re a sinner, find another sinner who’s doing a bit better than you are. If they haven’t been there and done that, they can’t help. Seems to me that theory would work for the church. I know.
