Power vs Authority

Did you know that power and authority are two different things?

When someone points a gun at you, that’s power. When you ask them to put the gun away and they do it, that’s authority.

Christians don’t have to have power. And frankly, when we’ve had it, we didn’t handle it very well. But authority comes from who we represent, that would be Jesus who said all authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go.

That means that he shares his authority with us. So use it, okay? Put your gun away, you don’t need it.
